Three-point seat belts
The lap-and-diagonal arrangement used across almost all modern front and outboard rear seating positions. A single continuous length of webbing runs from a lower outboard anchorage, across the pelvis, up across the chest and shoulder, and back to an upper B-pillar or seat-mounted guide. The geometry loads the pelvis and rib cage — the structures best able to take it — and controls forward rotation of the upper body.
